About the Guide

The Castle Grey Guide is a cultural navigation system — it helps people discover cultural destinations and teaches them how to experience them well.

What the Guide is

The Castle Grey Guide combines two functions. The first is destination discovery, in the spirit of a Michelin guide: it points toward cultural destinations worth experiencing. The second is consumption education, in the spirit of Wine Folly: it teaches how to experience the product you find there with care — its context, its etiquette, its pairings.

It is not a blog, a magazine, a review platform, an artist directory, or a record label website. It does not rate, rank, or score. It publishes only what it recommends, and stays silent about the rest.

How it relates to Castle Grey Studios

The Guide shares brand identity with Castle Grey Studios but is editorially and operationally independent — a separate codebase, a separate voice, and a deliberately slower cadence. The studio promotes; the Guide illuminates. Those are not the same act.

The editorial approach

The Guide speaks as an institution, not as individual personalities. Its authority comes from consistency and restraint over time. Entries carry no ratings and no negative criticism; inclusion itself is the recommendation. Nothing is published on a schedule, and nothing carries a publication date — every entry is written to remain useful for years, not days.
